This philanthropic initiative of the Foundation for the California Community Colleges helps local colleges and community-based organizations develop and implement CalFresh Employment & Training programs in partnership with their counties. These programs assist CalFresh federal aid recipients with gaining skills and employment. Initial implementation occurred at two sites (Gavilan College and Cosumnes River College). A Request For Application was available for up to 10 additional colleges in the 2016-2017 school year—the program will be open to all colleges in 2017-2018. All participating colleges are required to provide non-federal match funds.
Fresh Success could partner with initiatives such as the Adult Education Program (AEP), community college career technical education pathways and business services, the Student Equity & Achievement Act, AB86 Adult Education Consortia, Extended Opportunity Programs and Services, and county CalFresh programs.
The initiative could focus on serving in-demand sectors as identified through Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act career pathway programs.
