Building Strong Systems

Higher Education Innovation Awards Program

The Higher Education Innovation Awards are to support innovations that reduce and eliminate regional achievement gaps and achievements gaps for students from traditionally underrepresented groups.  These innovations need to be sustainable and able to be scaled across California. The initiative supports the goals the board of governors put forth in their Vision for Success report.

This initiative can prove to be the laboratory for innovating to meet the goals of the Student Equity and Achievement Act.  In developing these innovations, practitioners can leverage the WIOA system partners focused on improving education and employment outcomes for their participants.

Additionally, CalWorks and CalFresh recipients are over represented in target populations and, as such, these systems could be engaged to develop support system strategies.
