Office of Offender Services Workforce Programs

This correctional education and re-entry initiative of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) is an ongoing general fund to support programs that prepare incarcerated adults for release. Services include employment readiness, identifying transitional employment, and job placement assistance.

Initiative funding for FY 2015-16 was $156 million.

Education provided during incarceration could focus on skills and credentials with labor market value in the region of re-entry. At the same time, building relationships with local workforce boards to advocate for appropriate one-stop services for these participants during re-entry could be critical.
